Glue Crew Invades MadCity

On Saturday March 1st, 2008 the Glue Crew attended the annual contest and swap meet in Madison put on by the MadCity Modelers Group. Members in attendance included Bob Dudley, Joe Drew, Jim Unger, BJ Walldinger, Ken Prigge, Clyde Jones, and Steve Koslowski. Glue Crew members have attended this annual contest in the past and have always done well gathering numerous awards in a variety of categories.

The show started early in the morning and by noon many of the tables were full of incredible models of every description. Categories included autos and trucks, propeller and jet planes of every scale, armor in both track and soft-skin varieties, ships, sci-fi, figures, and everything that didn’t fit in the above catigories ended up on the miscellaneous table. The show also had special themes including Lucky Auto and Military, Best British airplane, Most Creative, and Best in Show. There were over 600 models in attendance and included several displays such as the 1/16th scale tanks that took up an entire table by themselves.

Awards took place at 4:00 p.m. and our Crew took home some hardware. Ken Prigge won in the 1/32 scale jet category with his post World War II fighter, BJ Waldinger took home an award in the Micillanious category with a missile, Steve Koslowski won in box stock with his Gambler chopper, and Clyde's friend Mark took home honors in the truck catigory and Best in Show with his 1960 snow plow. One of the most interesting models was a scratchbuilt rail gun that took over 5 years to complete and won in the Most Creative model catigory. Needless to say, if you see any of these models at your local show, look out!

The Glue Crew would like to thank the MadCity Modelers for putting on a great show. We always have a great time attending their show and getting to hook up with some incredible modelers. Hopefully attendees from their show can come north to participate in the 8th Annual Glue Crew Contest held on October 11, 2008.
